Home care is sometimes referred to as "private-duty companion care," "private-duty home care," "companion care," "personal care services," "home care services," and "non-medical home care." Basically, home care provides caregivers to assist with personal care and companionship services. The goal of home care is to help individuals manage their daily lives so they can safely and comfortably remain in their homes. We understand that some individuals need assistance with certain activities in order to remain in their home.
We partner with your family to provide support and quality care for your loved one. As an extension of your family, we supplement the caregiving duties and provide hands-on assistance to dependent individuals. As an independently owned company we are able to accommodate the changing needs and requirements of each family.
We provide the best caregivers, as each member of our team is hand-selected. Because every family and every individual is different and their needs are unique, we consider personality preferences and the home environment and culture when matching clients with our caregivers. Our caregivers provide ongoing assistance with what are commonly called "activities of daily living" (ADLs), such as:
- Bathing, grooming, using the toilet, and dressing
- Medication reminders and prescription refills
- Light housekeeping and laundry
- Errands and shopping
- Meal planning and preparation
- Transportation to appointments or meetings
- Helping with activities and hobbies
- Recreation and assistance with exercise and physical therapy recommendations
- Companionship and emotional support
- Respite and caregiver relief
- Professional home organization and transition services
Our rates are hourly and we do not require a minimum number of hours for a visit. Some clients need a once a week “check in” or shorter visits throughout the day. Others want 24/7 help so that they can remain safely and comfortably in their home. You decide when you want our help. We are committed to accommodating your needs.
Our Family Friend supports families who want their loved ones to be well cared for in their own homes or to receive added companion care in a nursing facility. Our team has extensive experience with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, and a range of other cognitive and degenerative diseases. We excel at working with families to provide the best possible home care. Our teamwork approach with family and other healthcare professionals allows us to support continuity of care and to advocate for our clients. Contact us to discuss how we can best serve you.
Home care vs. home health care
Both home care and home health care have the same goal of keeping your loved one safely and comfortably in their home. These two services can work together; they are not mutually exclusive! Home health care provides skilled medical care; home care provides companionship, emotional support, and help with the greater part of your loved one's everyday life. We have an excellent track record of working as a team with home health care to ensure success for our clients. We are convinced of the value of home care. And our promise to you is "we prove our value."
